How to get accurate predictions with this age guesser
There are a couple of recommendations you need to know to get accurate estimations of how old you look
Also avoid sunglasses or other accessoires that cover parts of the face. Filters or black and white photos can also negatively bias the outcome. Make sure that you show your face from the front and only one face is visible in the photo.
How the Age Detection works
We use state-of-the-art computer vision and Deep Learning algorithms to estimate the age of the persion in the picture. First, we extract the face of the image and normalize it. For that, we use the open-source project OpenCV.
The actual facial age detection is performed by a customized Deep Neural Network based on the ResNet architecture which was shown to produce good results on various image analysis tasks.
We trained the Neural Network with a dataset consisting of thousands of facial images with age labels and verified that the model is working with a testing dataset that has not been used during the training phase.
